How to Connect a Custom Domain to Your Website (Free SSL)
Your own domain — like yourbrand.com — makes your business look established and trustworthy. Owlvo connects a custom domain in a few taps and installs the HTTPS (SSL) certificate for you, automatically.
What you need first
To use a custom domain in Owlvo, your site needs an active plan and it must already be published. Then you’ll need a domain, which you buy from a registrar such as GoDaddy or Namecheap. That fee goes to the registrar — not to Owlvo.
Step 1 — Buy a domain
Choose and purchase your domain at any registrar. Pick something short and memorable that matches your brand.
Step 2 — Connect it in Owlvo
Open the Custom domain tool, type your domain and tap Connect. Owlvo shows the DNS record you need to add — usually an A record (and a CNAME for the www version if needed). Each value is copyable.
Step 3 — Add the DNS record
Log in to your registrar and open its DNS panel. Add the record exactly as Owlvo shows it. You always change DNS at your domain provider, never inside the app.
Step 4 — Wait for it to go live
DNS changes spread across the internet in minutes, sometimes up to 24–48 hours. Owlvo checks automatically; when the record is correct the status turns Active and HTTPS is installed for you — no certificates to manage.
Why HTTPS matters
The padlock in the browser tells visitors your site is secure, and search engines prefer secure sites. With Owlvo it’s automatic, so your professional address is protected from day one.
